Bean Museum Online Fieldtrip

Submitted by arlene.haymond on

Ms. Price's class had the opportunity to do an online lesson with the Bean Museum. The students analyzed how plants, animals, and decomposers obtain and use energy. They also track the flow of energy through an ecosystem. They had a lot of fun doing this. The Bean Museum has several fun online things for all ages to do, if you are interested go to https://mlbean.byu.edu/.

Leprechaun Traps STEM part 2

Submitted by arlene.haymond on

Ms. Price's fifth grade class set their traps and apparently the leprechaun didn't like that. He messed up the whole classroom with glitter, streamers, sticky notes, green letters, string, and a lot of different green things. Wow, did he make a mess!

Leprechaun Traps STEM

Submitted by arlene.haymond on

Ms. Price's class did a Leprechaun Trap STEM project this week. The students first designed their traps. Their traps need to have six features that would attract a leprechaun and three different shapes. After designing their traps they wrote an opinion paper on why their trap was the best trap and why it would catch a leprechaun. Next, the students measured their traps, then compared their trap to another group's trap and then they did a line plot with all the traps' heights. Lastly the students built their trap! We had Mrs. Nielsen, Mrs. Arroyo, and Mrs.

Mrs. Whitney’s class measured different items in their classroom.  It was a great way to have students recognize the use of measurement in their daily life.
