PTA is sponsoring White Ribbon Week this week!
MONDAY
“I will swap media time for a real-life experience each day”
Discussion: Discuss with your child that the idea that spending excessive time in the virtual world (screen time) impairs our ability to interact well with others and enjoy daily life. Keeping a balance between technology and real life helps life become more meaningful and happy.
In other words, don’t forget to...ride a bike, play a board game, hike a mountain, climb a tree, play an instrument, draw or color a picture, shoot a basketball, sing, dance, swim, run, read a book, etc..
Ask your kids, “What is a real life experience?” “Is watching YouTube videos a real-life experience?” “How can I tell if I’ve spent too much time in the virtual world?” Have them list a few real-life things they like to do.
Challenge: Swap media time for a real-life experience each day, even if it’s only for 5 minutes.
Lunchtime Activity: Invite your class to stop by the “White Ribbon Week” table by the lunchroom today.
