The week before school let out for the summer, students and teachers surprised Mrs. Matis with a farewell assembly. Under the direction of the facilitator Teresa Jordan, students learned a special song "Living in the Hall of Fame". The entire school also participated in an elaborately choreographed lip dub with a variety of songs. Everyone had fun putting this together.
Sara Matis has been the principal of Westside for eight years and has become a beloved administrator. Students always talk about how she knows each one of them by name, and even when she disciplines them, does it in a kind way. She will be very missed as she begins a new administrative appointment in Mapleton at Maple Ridge Elementary.
