Clark Planetarium Field Trip

Submitted by arlene.haymond on

Clark Planetarium generously donated an at-school field trip for the sixth graders at Westside. Because they couldn’t take a real field trip this year, they spent the day watching awesome videos from the planetarium’s dome theater as well as the IMAX, eating sack lunches outside, doing space art projects, and ended the day playing a class vs. class kickball game. Way to go sixth graders for making the best out of our unique situation this year.

Outstanding Classified Employee for 2019-2020: Kari Kieffer!

Submitted by arlene.haymond on

Mrs. Kieffer is responsible for our take home reading book programs. She exchanges every take home book for all students involved. She makes each student she comes in contact with feel special. When she walks down the halls, she has a smile for everyone she sees. Kari does anything she can do to make students feel loved and valued.  When she is outside on the playground, she is always surrounded by students.  She is a true cheerleader and her positive attitude make her an Outstanding Classified Employee.

Sixth Grade Student Initiative

Submitted by arlene.haymond on

Andrea, a sixth grader is Mr. Lovell's class, was inspired to create posters that would help our school become a cleaner and more green place. She read two books, took initiative and spoke with our principal to get permission, and then hand drew around 20 posters and posted them around our school. Great work, Andrea!
