Pi Day at Westside

The Mathletes, students at Westside, celebrated National Pi Day by learning about pi, and actually eating some pie!
Last week, fifth grade students were treated to a day of fun science activities.
Recently, Westside third grade students participated in their annual program. The program is designed to focus on third grade social studies curriculum, which focuses on community.
On Thursday, February 25th, Westside 5th grade students participated in the annual wax museum. Each student researched an influential person in history, and dressed as that person would have dressed. They each prepared a short speech to go along with the person they chose.
On Febrary 18th, fifth and sixth grade students were given the option of participating in the school science fair. Students were required to do all of the work for their projects outside of school. Several projects were chosen to go on to the district science fair on February 24th.
On Friday, February 13th, classes around school celebrated Valentine's day. Many students decorated boxes to serve as receptacles for their Valentine cards and treats.
Last week, members of the student council sold and delivered Val-O-Grams to the students at Westside. Students were able to purchase these for 25¢ during their lunch hour .
The sixth grade orchestra recently performed for students and faculty at Westside.

On Friday, January 30th, students and teachers at Westside participated in the faculty vs 6th grade basketball game. The students maintained a close score throughout most of the game, however the teachers prevailed in the end.
