Arbor Day Celebration at Westside

On Friday, April 27, Westside fourth-grade students helped plant two trees in honor of Arbor Day. Springville City donated two Norwegian Sunset Maples to Westside Elementary to plant in front of the school.

Springville City is Tree City USA community.  A town or city must meet four standards established by The Arbor Day Foundation and the National Association of State Foresters.

As a part of the sixth-grade science core curriculum, students learn about objects in the universe.  Recently, students made a "comet" out of various household products under the supervision of their teacher.

6th Grade Hershey Track

Last week, students in sixth grade had the opportunity to participate in the annual Hershey Track meet at Springville High School.  Although the weather was quite chilly, the students and teachers braved the weather....until the downpour of rain.  Fortunately, by the time the serious weather conditions set in, the running events were completed.

5th Grade Program

On Friday, April 6th, fifth-graders at Westside performed their class program.  The program focused on the United States, and some of the iconic events and culture that have shaped United States in the last 100 years.  Some of the songs performed included Hound Dog by Elvis, and Puttin' on the Ritz.
