The Westside PTA sponsored the Fall carnival held on September 20, 2012. This year, classes designed and created a scarecrow to be auctioned off at the carnival to raise funds. Some classes modeled their scarecrow after a book character, while others created them from their own imaginations. Carnival games and concessions were set up around the playground area for the entertainment of all. Thanks to all who made this year’s carnival a great success!
United Way Day of Caring Companies (Wells Fargo, Proquest, Jamberry Nails, and BYU) recently came to Westside to provide various services to the school. Some employees painted caterpillars with the letters of the alphabet, on the playground area. Other employees prepared the portables to be re-painted. The services rendered were very much appreciated by all!
Westside sixth-grade students were recently given a demonstration of various orchestral instruments. The purpose of this presentation was motivate them to join the orchestra program that is offered through the school district. Many students signed up for the program, which involves them coming to school two-three times per week throughout the school year.
