Today all of the students in the third through sixth grades who are in the Spanish Immersion classes participated in a program for parents and students. Each grade performed a number, some singing in Spanish, and everyone dancing. As a finale, all four grades joined together to sing a beautiful song. Fantastic job to all of the kids who participated!

Today the third graders at Westside put on a fantastic program about world cultures. They shared information and pictures and sang songs about the people who live in different areas of the world, their clothing, languages, and customs. Great job third graders!

Each year the faculty of Westside vote on one teacher to win the Crystal Apple Award. This year, we chose Mrs. Jensen, one of our amazing second grade teachers. Mrs. Jensen is an incredible teacher. It is clear that she cares about her students and works hard to help them succeed. She also goes out of her way to make the faculty and staff feel supported and appreciated. She is sunshine in our school, and we are so grateful to have her!

This week Discovery Gateway Children's Museum visited the fifth grade classes to present Reaction Time, all about matter. The kids watched a presentation filled with experiments and explanations about chemical and physical changes to matter. Later in the day, each class spent time with the presenter, doing experiments of their own.

In celebration of Read Across America Week, Dr. Seuss Day, and Thing 1 and Thing 2, Westside had a Twin Day today. All over the school we had kids, teachers, and office staff dressed as twins, and even a few Thing1s and 2s.
