Submitted by lindsey.smith on Tue, 05/23/2017 - 07:56

Recently Miss Balli won an award from the faculty for all of her amazing service to Westside. In the two years that she has been here, Miss Balli has made a tremendous difference. She is kind and caring to students and helps them strive to do their best. She is also incredibly supportive to the teachers, helping them in whatever ways they need. Westside will greatly miss her next year, but we are so excited for Miss Balli in her appointment as principal at Meadow Brook!

Submitted by lindsey.smith on Thu, 05/18/2017 - 08:11

Each year the faculty of Westside Elementary chooses one classified employee (an employee who is not a teacher) as Employee of the Year, sponsored by Horace Mann. This year Mr. Poulson, our school custodian was chosen. Mr. Poulson is a wonderful custodian! He is caring and kind, and does all that he can to help both teachers and students. Whether it be moving furniture, getting balls down from the roof, or tirelessly cleaning the lunchroom each day, Mr. Poulson is always there, with a smile on his face. We are so grateful to have Mr. Poulson working at Westside!

This year marks the second year of Mr. Lovell’s “Pennies For Peace” reading marathon. During the reading marathon students had family members, friends, and neighbors pledge to donate a certain amount of pennies for each minute that they read during a one week period. Students then did their part by reading for multiple hours each day.
