School Cancelled Today

Submitted by arlene.haymond on

Areas of Nebo School District have been affected by the recent storm.  Due to the extremely cold temperatures, hazardous driving conditions, and the expectation of continued snow, as of 6:15 a.m. the decision has been made to cancel school today, Monday, February 3, 2020.  We know this will be an inconvenience for many, but safety of students and employees is of utmost importance.

All extracurricular practices or activities planned for before or after school will also be cancelled.

Density Tanks

Submitted by arlene.haymond on

In sixth grade, we discovered the difference in densities of hot and cold water. We used divided tanks that we poured hot (red) water in one side and cold (blue) water in the other. Upon lifting the divider we noticed the cold water staying at the bottom beneath the hot and the hot moving to the top of the cold. We learned that cold water is more dense than warm water because the molecules are moving slower.

Mrs. Herrmann's students made a compass by magnetizing a needle and floating it on water, which it pointed to Earth's own north.
