At the end of kindergarten, the kindergarten students were invited to read and do learning activities during the summer. Eleven of those students completed the challenge and were invited to a picnic lunch with the kindergarten teachers. It was fun to hear how the students are enjoying first grade. Congratulations to those students for their hard work.
This week Miss Smith's class had a visit from Mr. Sainsbury, who is now the Coordinator for Food Services for Nebo School District. With plans to add new foods to the elementary breakfast and lunch menu, Mr. Sainsbury and his team needed to find out which foods kids prefer, so they brought a few new items for the class to sample, and then rate. The class had a great time and looks forward to possibly seeing some of those things in their lunchroom in the future!

This year Westside Elementary, in Springville, celebrates a 15 year Adopt-a-School partnership with Nestle. Westside is so grateful to Nestle for this partnership and their great generosity, and also to Jason Osborne, the Nestle employee who has coordinated all of their efforts. Through this incredible program Westside has received school supplies and several fiscal donations which have been and will continue to be used to perpetuate after school programs and tutoring for students.
Happy summer everyone! In case you haven't heard yet, this might be a lot of fun during these lovely, hot days that we've been having (click 'next' on the photos for a link to information).
