This week Westside celebrated Red Ribbon Week. Students and teachers dressed in red, dressed to represent their favorite teams, and dressed in crazy attire as they pledged to stay drug free. Each class also created a poster to remind people the importance of staying away from drugs.

Westside Teachers Love Their Students

On Tuesday, Westside had an assembly to celebrate our success with our fundraiser this year (thank you so much to everyone who dontated!! Your generosity will go so far to help our school with resources and technology!). Every grade was able to meet their goal, which meant that every teacher got a pie in the face. And since everyone worked so hard, Mrs. Pruitt got one too. Thank you for all of your support Westside students and parents!

The Road to Success program is up and running.  This is a great opportunity to help motivate your reader as well as track his or her reading minutes. There is a great overview of the program at https://rtsutah.com/program-overview/.  Here you will find a great video reviewing the main components of how the game/program works.  Don't forget that "when on the road to success, you can go anywhere!" Feel free to contact your student's instructor for any further questions.

Fifth Grade Dance

Submitted by lindsey.smith on

Today the fifth graders worked with Rachel Kimball, Nebo School District's dance specialist, to learn about the elements of dance as applied to social studies. The students learned the original 13 colonies, the etymology of their names, and then created short dances to portray the names of each colony. Each group then performed their dance while the rest of the class watched and then labeled the colony on a map.
