STEM Bus - Robotics Class

Submitted by arlene.haymond on

Westside Elementary’s sixth graders had the rare privilege of having the STEM bus (van) spend the day with them on April 19. Each of the four sixth grade classes had the opportunity to have a two hour class taught by the technology experts from the STEM Action Center. Two of the classes participated in robotics, one did video game design and the other did computer programming. The instructors not only provided all the supplies and technology that was needed, they were extremely knowledgeable and helpful while the students learned through discovery.

In the bracket round Owen Thorpe placed second and Bryce Turley placed third. The top overall individual scorer was Ervin Anderson. One of the Westside teams placed third: Alex Bills, Ervin Anderson, Gabe Rammell and Bryce Turley. And our other fabulous competitors were Asher Mark, Kaden Cook, Ben Boucher, Cole Hammer, Nima Groves, Jade Langholf, Beth Rogers, Miya Nelson and Brenna Smyth.

The Westside kids were quick to point out we took home 4 of the 7 trophies/medals.
